Abstract
378,999. Tamping concrete roads &c. ALLAN, W. A. M., 155, Camden Road, London, and NATHAN, A., 38, Winterbourne Road, Chadwell Heath, Essex. June 1, 1931, No. 16002. [Class 107.] A templet for use in tamping concrete roads &c. comprises a flexible member a adapted to serve, in conjunction with a second similar templet, for limiting the downward movement of a tamper and to be bent to the camber desired. Fig. 1 shows an elevation of one half of the member a, which may be in the form of a steel plate supported by five brackets c from a girder b of metal box or solid wooden form. The vertical arm of each of the brackets c extends through the girder b and is provided with a threaded upper end for engagement by a nut c<3> to permit vertical adjustment of the bracket for altering the camber of the member a. Each end of the girder b is carried by a trolley comprising, as shown in Fig. 2, spaced plates d and rollers d<3> which run on the kerbs or other supports at the side of the road. The tamper g, Fig. 4, consists of a wooden board with a metal edge g<1> and is provided with handles g<3> at each end.
