Abstract

378,822. Screwdrivers. SCHNEIDER, J., 93, Rue du Commerce, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. March 21, 1932, No. 8390. Convention date, April 1, 1931. [Classes 61 (i) and 61 (iii).] A screwdriver has a dry battery in the handle and means for closing the circuit to an electric lamp near the end of the blade to enable the work to be illuminated. Screwdriver blades 4 of different sizes are provided in chambers 29 at the end of the handle, each blade being adapted to be secured in the slotted end 5 of the tubular stem 2 by a slit ring 7 engaging notches 9 in the blade stem 8. The stem 2 which is insulated by a sheath 3 has a small window 16 opposite which is located an electric lamp 15 connected by an insulated wire 14 to one pole 11 of a dry battery 10 and by another wire 17 to a plate 18 connected to a disc 19 separated by an insulating washer 20 from the other pole 21, the circuit being closed by a spring 22 engaging a member 23 adapted to be moved forwards into contact with plate 19 by screw knob 25. The device may be used in conjunction with a length of cable 26 for testing electric circuits.
