Abstract
237,683. Hale, G. W., Holden, L. H. T., and Radio Engineering Co., Ltd. May 28, 1924. Receiving sets, construction of.-A. switch may be mounted on the frame a of a filament resistance in which a drum e carrying the resistance wire d is mounted for independent rotary and axial sliding movements relatively to a stationary contact k by suitable operation of a handle f for use with bright-filament and dull-emitter valves respectively. One blade of the switch carries an insulating button co-operating with the drum c to hold the blade against a second contact blade and the switch is opened by separation of the blades when the drum is moved to its rear-most position. The rheostat may then be used to control the filament current of a detector valve and the switch to control the filament circuits of the other valves, these circuits being completed only when the resistance d is in circuit. A valve holder comprising an insulating plate l, and sockets u may be mounted on the frame a of a resistance of this kind, one socket being continuously in electric connection with the contact k of the resistance and terminals x, v for the filament battery being connected respectively to another socket and to the end of the resistance wire d through the operating rod g.
