Abstract

378,325. Welded pipe joints. OTTO DIETRICH ROHRLEITUNGSBAU AKT.- GES. E., 2, Leopoldstrasse, Bitterfeld, and KREFFT, F., 1, Joachimstrasse, D³sseldorf, both in Germany. Jan. 25, 1932, No. 2283. [Classes 99 (i) and 99 (ii).] In a welded spigot- and-socket pipe joint, the socket is provided with an enlarged bevelled edge, indicated by the dotted lines in Fig. 2, formed by an upsetting operation, and welding material is applied to the said edge and to the outer circumference of the spigot. The bevelled edge is preferably formed at the same time as the socket, the operation being effected by a press plunger, Fig. 3, which has an inclined shoulder and is forced into the heated end c of the pipe.
