[Class 55 (ii).] Apparatus for purifying carbon dioxide in the recovery from the fermentation process, comprises a vessel having a receptacle b for the purifying liquid through which the gas is passed by a pipe e having spreading plates f, a container c being arranged above the receptacle b, and being sufficiently large to accommodate the entire volume of liquid should fluctuations in the pressure result in the liquid being forced up the pipe e. The gas enters by a pipe d and the purified gas leaves by pipes g, the liquid being supplied by a pipe i, and maintained at constant level by an overflow h. The receptacle b is emptied through a pipe a.
