[Class 40 (v).] In an indirectly heated amplifying valve 1, the voltage of the cathode 2 and anode 5 vary at the same frequency and amplitude but in opposite phase. The anode and cathode are connected to opposite ends of resistances 6, 7, the mid-point of which is connected to a point of constant potential, such as earth. The ends of the resistances are also connected to the grids of two push-pull valves 13, 14. The valve 1 may be a detector, Fig. 2 (not shown).
