[Class 27.] Price - changing mechanism. - In order to enable the price-change plate to be readily adjusted in semi-darkness, a resilient arm 7, Fig. 1, is revolubly mounted on the spindle of the operating knob 4 of the coinmechanism, and obscures or blocks the figures and notches 6 on the change plate 1 adjacent the one required, which shows through a gap on the outer edge of the arm. The arm is rotated by the official until the gap is opposite the notch corresponding to the price of gas &c. and is retained by a pin 8 engaging, owing to the resilience of the arm, in one of the notches of the change plate. The exposed notch can then be readily engaged with the usual stop 5 on the meter casing In a modification, Fig. 6, the obscuring plate 9 is clipped over the edge of the change plate. In another form, Fig. 5, the means for blocking the notches comprises a wire loop 10 fitting in a groove in the edge of the change plate. A gap in the loop exposes the notch required. One end 12 of the loop is bent towards the front of the meter, so that the official can lift this end out of a notch to move the loop around the change plate when the price of gas &c. is to be adjusted.
