Addition to 366,673, [Group XXXVI]. [Class 99 (i).] Metal pipes a, b are joined by a sleeve c welded to the turned-back annular flanges n, o of reducers d, e secured to the pipe ends, as shown. To strengthen the joint, narrow ribs h may be formed on the reducers d, e and rings i, k may be shrunk on the sleeve c in the positions shown. To permit subsequent opening and reclosing of the joint, the flanges n, o are preferably of such length as to allow cutting away and rewelding of the seams f, g.
