376,995. Disinfecting-apparatus for water-waste-preventers. MIDGLEY, R., 83, Commercial Road, Kirkstall, and FEARNLEY, A., 111, Old Lane, Beeston, both in Leeds. Aug. 29, 1931, No. 24333. [Class 26.] In disinfecting-apparatus of the kind comprising a pump 3 operated by the pulllever 4 to deliver disinfectant from a container 12 to the water-waste-preventer, the piston-rod 6 is independent of the lever 4 and is engaged thereby at each actuation, whilst the piston is spring- loaded so that it performs a suction-stroke on the return of the lever. The pump is carried by a bracket 1 passing over the cistern wall and provided with a spring-clip 13 engaging the neck of the container 12; the piston-rod 6 is encircled by a spring 9 disposed between the top of the pump barrel and a head 7 which is shaped to receive the lever 4 and which is provided with a guiding-member 8 which slides upon the bracket 1. The suctioninlet of the pump is furnished with a pipe 11 extending into the container and the discharge takes place through a pipe 15 passing,to the cistern, one-way-valves 10, 14 being provided. The container 12 and the pump 3 are preferably outside the cistern and the bracket may be supported by a clamping device or an arrangement embodying a spring and permitting mounting of the device upon cistern walls of different thicknesses. Further, the suction-inlet of the pump may have a screwed cap to accommodate and support a screwed neck of a disinfectantcontainer.
