[Class 120 (i).] In a cotton-opening or scutching machine in which the treated cotton is sucked from the beater f on to a conveyer h, the conveyer is arranged directly behind the beating compartment e, the cotton being drawn directly on to the conveyer by the fan k and suction trough l so that a uniform layer is formed thereon. The conveyer h is formed of grid bars or of wire gauze and delivery rollers m are provided at its end.
