Abstract

374,303. Milling. PARKINSON, E., PARKINSON, E., and PARKINSON, H., Canal Ironworks, Shipley, Yorkshire. July 4, 1931, No. 19287. [Class 83 (iii).] In a milling-machine of the knee-type having an offset telescopic brace at the front of the machine for connecting knee and overarm, resilient means are provided for supporting the whole or part of the weight of the brace. The brace 1 slides in a boss 4, forming part of the knee 7, to which it may be clamped during cutting, and is shown resiliently supported by a spring 10 carried by a tubular column 11 over which the brace slides, the upper end of the spring being housed in a hole in the brace ; fluid means may be used in lieu of the spring.
