[Class 83 (iii).] Attachments for milling.-An attachment for a milling-machine, planing-machine, lathe or similar machine comprises a frame 1 consisting of spaced sidemembers 3 and a toolholder 4 pivoted at o about an axis parallel to the plane of movement of the work-table 14. The tool - holder carries a number of rotary tool-spindles 5, driven by pulleys 8, and a tracer spindle 6 which co-operates with a templet 15 secured to the work-table and causes the tools to produce copies of the templet as the table is traversed. The usual cutter 11 of the milling or planing machine may pass between the side members 3 to rough out the work. When attached to a planing machine the frame 1 is pivoted to the side supports of the cross-slide and in a lathe is pivoted to a support on the bed, the work and templet being mounted on a support on the bed of the machine. Adjustable balance weights 7 provide for varying the pressure of the tools on the work. In each machine the reversal of stroke and the feed are automatic and the directions of feed and stroke can be interchanged.
