Abstract

373,740. Valves. MœLLENER, W., R³ti Zurich. Switzerland. April 24, 1931, No. 12203. [Class 7 (vi).] A rotary concave valve 9 controlling inlet and exhaust is driven by a toothed wheel 16 keyed to the spindle 14 and surrounded by a two-part casing 15, which is adjustably screwed on the spindle bearing 12 so as to vary the compression of a spring 18 bearing against the toothed wheel through a ball bearing 17. The casing 15 is arranged at a distance above the cylinder cover to prevent transference of heat therefrom. A second ball bearing 24 is arranged above the toothed wheel. The valve is formed with a cavity opposite the port opening for balancing the rotating mass, this cavity also serving for lubrication. The valve mechanism may be arranged at an angle to the cylinder, instead of axially.
