[Class 142 (i).] Double hooks 5 are controlled by oscillatable crutches 1 having strap guides 4 for the hooks and operated by jacquard needles c the crutches being mounted on axles 2 and supported in grooves 3 so that they can be readily dissembled. After a hook 5 has been raised by one or other of two griffes 6, 7 reciprocating in opposite directions, at half the usual speed, a shoulder 11 on the hook engages above the crutch whereby the hook is retained in an open shed position so long as the corresponding needle engages holes in the jacquard cards. The hooks fit through a stationary grid formed by detachable bars, which causes a hook in the upper shed to engage a descending griffe when a crutch 1 is oscillated bv a blank in a card. The hooks are supported by a bottom board 10, which may be adjusted by a rack to vary the extent of lift given by the griffes 6, 7. The usual shiftable grid 9, the bars of which can be separately dismantled, pushes both arms of the hooks at the moment the griffes 6, 7 are crossing, so as to prevent hooking. At the end of their upward movements, the griffes slightly lift the hooks.
