Jan. 27, 1931, No. 2681. [Class 64 (ii).] A heat and sound insulating panel comprises several superposed partitions with spacing means such as wooden strips at the borders serving also as means for securing the parts in a rigid whole. Thin insulating walls a of double layers of longcloth, silk, cotton, or paper divide the panel into shallow sections filled with granulated cork, jute, compressed hair, wool, cotton, cotton linters, wadding, straw, bran, sawdust, slag wool, sponge or asbestos. Frames b and strips of wood, fibre-board or papier mÔchÚ at the edges and elsewhere connect the walls and space them apart. The edges and sides of the panels are covered with thin cloth, paper, or other fabric. The materials are made fireproof by alum treatment. The panels are curved as desired and may be bevelled at the edges, or are interconnected by tongues and grooves as in Fig. 15.
