Abstract
442,251. Nonconducting coverings for sound. OELSNER & CO., W., 5, Rosenborggade, Copenhagen. Dec. 5, 1934, Nos. 34951 and 34952. Convention date, Dec. 5, 1933 and March 7, 1934. [Class 64 (ii)] [See also Groups XXXVIII and X] The walls of a broadcasting &c. studio have their upper parts covered with sound-absorbing material and the lower parts with sound - reflecting material. The outer walls 3 of brickwork or concrete contain I-beams 1, the surfaces of which are covered with soundinsulating material such as jute, asbestos, cork or lead, attached by means of a bituminous coating. The inner face of the walls and roof has a coating 4 of sound-absorbing material such as asbestos wool, straw, peat, &c., which may be formed in slabs preferably having the material disposed between layers of expanded metal coated with plastic bituminous material. In front of the lower parts of the walls are disposed sectional panels 5 of rough-surfaced sound-reflecting material such as stone or porcelain inserted in frames 6 of metal &c. Supported above the panels 5 on brackets 7 are further panels 8 of soundabsorbing material such as asbestos wool &c., mounted on frames 11 and covered with silk &c. fabric or metal wires 9. The beams 1 carry other I-beams 2 supporting a ceiling consisting of two or more layers of metal netting 13, Fig. 4, filled with plastic material 14 with covering and separating layers 15 of woven fabric, the lower layer being preferably coated with a layer of a fluorate to give reflecting power. The upper panelling 8. may be separated from the wall so as to provide behind it accommodation for blinds which may be let down as required to modify the reflecting quality of the lower panels. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states also that the space behind the upper panelling may accommodate alternative sound-reflecting panelling. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
