Abstract
415,769. Nonconducting coverings for heat and sound. CAPE ASBESTOS CO., Ltd., 26, Holborn Viaduct, London, and BOER, K. L. DE, 255, Czaar Peterstraat, Amsterdam. March 1, 1933, No. 6246. [Class 64 (ii).] Blocks, sectional covering &c. comprising insulating material such as cork, asbestos fibre, woolfelt, hair, kieselguhr &c. are completely enclosed within thin metal sheeting, preferably of aluminium, to form waterproof units. Loose material may be primarily enclosed within a textle covering. In the form of a half-sleeve for a pipe, the sheeting is extended at the ends of the block and cut to form tongues 17, 18 which are folded over and adhered by glue &c. to the block. A shaped end piece 19, also of aluminium, is finally applied to cover the overlapping tongues. A unit may be built up in layers, each layer being sheathed ; the whole unit may be enclosed in an outer sheathing if desired. The sheathing may be covered with a textile, such as canvas, Hessian or Brattice cloth, heavier sheet metal such as galvanized metal, planished steel &c., or with a layer of gypsum or cement.
