483,969. Composite roofing strips. ROBINSON, W. B. Oct. 16, 1937, No. 28196. [Class 140] [Also in Group X] A composite roofing strip comprises a base 3 of wood or other rigid material to which is secured by an adhesive such as sodium silicate, tar or asphalt, a wedge-shaped strip 4 of heat insulating material such as sugar cane bagasse, wood fibre or asbestos having a parallel-sided extension 5. A strip 7 of roofing felt copper sheet or other waterproof material is secured to the upper face of the strip 4 and its exposed portion is coated with material 8 such as crushed stone or slate. A waterproof strip 10 is applied to the exposed faces of the extension 5. The strip may be made to simulate shingles by applying a hot iron to melt the asphalt of the felt 7 along suitable lines.
