VAN, 33, Boezemsingel, Rotterdam, Holland. Oct. 26, 1931, No. 29610. [Class 28 (ii).] The slice receiver of a slicing-machine is extended beneath the knife to intercept and accommodate the scraps of meat &c. falling from the knife. The receiving plate and its extension is shaped to correspond with the shape and arrangement of the knife bracket. In Fig. 2 the slice-receiving plate 10 is provided with a slot which fits around the knifesupporting bracket 7 leaving a portion 13 of the plate below the knife 3. The front end of the plate nests against the rib 7a. In Fig. 4 the knife bracket is designed for a motor-driven machine, the space between the main plate 31 and the ribs 32 being occupied by the transmission between the motor shaft and the knife shaft, and the space between the ribs 33 by the drive from the knife to the reciprocating carriage. The receiving plate 10 abuts against the front rib 32 and has a portion 34 extending between the bracket 31 and the base 1. In a further modification wherein the knife is motor driven and is journalled in an overhanging bracket, the receiving plate is of plain rectangular form and extends beneath the knife. The scrap-receiving portion may be upturned at its free end and be channelled in section to prevent the scraps from falling off the extension.
