Abstract

371,061. Can &c. closures. SYKES, G. A., 2105, Bolton Street, Baltimore, U.S.A. Jan. 26, 1931, No. 2536. [Class 125 (iii).] A sheet metal can &c. is formed with an inwardly extending skirt with a shallow concave seat 12, 13 presenting a blunt ridge 14 above which is disposed a downwardly-turned ridge 17 on the lid domed at 15 and tightly fitting the can at 16. The gasket 18 is of approximately circular shape, before the can is vacuumized, and presents an external feather &c. 20 which is gripped between the ridges 14, 17. The gasket may present feathers or ridges projecting both outwardly as at 20 and inwardly at a diametral position viewed in cross section.
