370,837. Doors for passenger vehicles; striking-plates and staples for latches DASTE, M. J., 12, Rue Pierre Lhomme, Courbevoie, Seine, France. Oct. 13, 1931, No. 28430. Convention date, June 12. [Class 103 (ii).] Relates to mountings for the saloon doors of motor vehicles, aircraft or the like of the kind in which each door is adapted to be locked by means of two latches or bolts engaging respectively either directly with the longitudinal member c of the roof and floor edge d or with co-operating elements carried by these parts. With the object of preventing rattling and transmission of stresses via the door from the floor to the roof of the vehicle &c. each door is provided with upper and lower locks e<1>, e<2>, the bolts m<2>, Fig. 7, of which are designed to engage with apertured conical studs g<1>, g<2>, e.g. as described in Specification 343,343, [Group XX], carried in silent blocks h<1>, h<2> mounted on the members c, d. In the construction shown the invention is applied to the two oppositely opening doors b, b<0> of a " pillarless " saloon body of a motor-car, and the two bolts m<2> are simultaneously operated through the medium of vertical bars l, cables or chains by turning a handle k. The silent blocks are preferably disposed with the axis of the block h<1> vertical and the axis of the block h<2> horizontal, and, if desired, the studs g<1>, g<2> may be replaced by flexibly mounted 'staples.
