Abstract
660,914. Railway-vehicle bodies. SOC. ITALIANA E. BREDA PER CONSTRUZIONI MECCANICHE. March 31, 1949. [Oct. 15, 1948] No. 8800/49. Class 103(iv). An intercommunication passage for a stream-lined rail vehicle comprises a door 1 in each end wall of the vehicle which may be moved over a roller track 7 to a space 1b in the roof when intercommunication between adjacent coupled vehicles is required, and a movable corridor section 2 which can be retracted to the position shown in Fig. 1 to render an end compartment of the vehicle available for a driver, and extended through the opening left by the raised door 1 when intercommunication is to be established, the said movable corridor section being complete with a hood 3, a gangway 5 and an intercommunication door 4. In its retracted position the movable corridor section rests on a floor portion 6 which may be raised on levers when the corridor is extended to maintain the floor level constant. Side doors 11 are provided in the compartment 2 to permit access to services when the compartment is retracted.
