Abstract

384,810. Animalcarrying vehicles ; loading ramps. MILES, F. L., 117, High Street, Cheltenham. Dec. 19, 1931, No. 35196. [Class 108 (i).] A road vehicle wherein the back of the body serves as a ramp and the floor of the body has a rear portion which is adapted to be brought into a sloping position to form an extension of said ramp is characterized in that means provided for operating the movable floor portion by the movement of the main ramp comprises an intermediate member between the rear floor portion and the ramp. As shown, the rear hinged door is formed in two parts 4 each adapted to be lowered to form a ramp and each having associated therewith a rear hinged floor portion 3 adapted to form a continuation of the vehicle floor 1 when the hinged door is raised and to form a continuation of the ramp when the hinged door is lowered. The ramp 4 is provided with a hinged member 5 having at its free end rollers 8 adapted to run on inclined tracks 9 and engaging under the hinged floor portion 3 to raise it or to allow it to be lowered by gravity. Each floor portion 3 is provided with a depending member 13 to close the gap when one member 3 is raised and the other member 3 lowered.
