Abstract

1,085,891. Vehicle doors. S. GORDON. Dec. 10, 1964 [March 9, 1964], No. 9926/64. Heading B7J. A saloon motor car comprises a flexible door 4 which may be slid from a closed position, Fig. 2, to an open position beneath the floor 5. The door may have inner and outer spring steel skins 11, 12 supported by an inner steel corrugation 13 spot welded at 14, or rubber blocks 15 bonded to the skins and reinforced with steel may be provided. The spaces between the blocks are filled with polyurethane foam 16 and rubber-edged guide channels 9 may be provided for the door edges which may be fitted with rollers. The door may be locked in the partially open position or superposed over a door on the opposite side. Warning and courtesy lights may be provided.
