Abstract

1,269,612. Sliding roofs. WEATHERSHIELDS Ltd. 29 Dec., 1970 [10 Jan., 1970], No. 1302/70. Heading B7B. An opening roof is of the kind in which a flexible fabric covering 21 is supported by slidably mounted cross-members (22), Fig. 1 (not shown), guided at their ends in longitudinally rails, one end of the covering being fixed to the roof and the flexible covering being normally manually movable between closed and open positions. An opening (10) in a vehicle roof 11, Fig. 2, has a frame 12 extending along each side and each end of the opening. The frame 12 has an H-section side members 13 having a web 15 abutting the free edge of the roof 11 positioned between limbs 16, 17 with the interposition of a sealing strip 18. Limbs 19, 20 engage a block 25 of synthetic plastics material secured to a bracket 24. A trim stay 26 is secured to each side member 13 by screws 31 to hold a head lining 32 in position and conceal the frame 12.
