Abstract

369,748. Loom dobbies ; jacquards. HARDT, H., 25, Nordstrasse, Brandt, near Aachen, and REINARTZ, A., 182c, Rommelwegstrasse, Roetgen, both in Germany. March 25, 1931, No. 9132. Convention date, March 25, 1930. [Class 142 (i).] Dobbies.-Steel balls n held in a cage or holder support feelers p connected to toggle levers r<1>, r<2> adapted to raise or lower hooks b connected to jack levers a for engagement with knives c, d. The balls rest on the pattern card l or pass through holes therein into recesses m in the card cylinder g, the balls sliding out of the recesses where the cylinders is turned. When the balls enter the recesses, the feelers p fall into the path of a reciprocating knife q and the corresponding hooks are raised for engagement with the upper knife c. After the shed has been formed, all the toggle levers are moved from the position shown in Fig. 1 to that shown in Fig. 2 by the action of a lever t to the left. The knives c, d and the card cylinder are operated by a crank f and the cam k through the mechanism shown. Since the toggle levers automatically lock in their extended position, the feelers p may be released and the card cylinder turned during the opening or closing of the shed, thereby facilitating the finding of a broken pick. In a modification, the balls u<1>, Fig. 6, are rotatably held in the ends of levers u arranged beneath the levers p. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also the use of levers having rounded ends in place of the balls, and states that the invention is applicable to jacquards. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
