Abstract
236,149. Carriol, L., and Mullor, A. June 28, 1924, [Convention date]. W e f t inserters not carrying bobbins, cops, and the like; looms with -A shuttle for use with two weft threads has at each end a steel point 2 notched at 4 and axially perforated for a thread-locking bolt 6. The bolts 6 are secured to the ends of a U-spring 7 and are retracted when the curved middle part 11 of the spring contacts with a roller 19 and is in consequence straightened. The roller 19 and a second roller 18 are carried by a spring-controlled lever 17 pivoted on the breast beam 14 in such a position that, on the beat-up, the roller 19 enters a recess 10 in the shuttle and the roller 18 engages an adjustable cam 23 on the side of the shuttle box. The shuttle is thus first moved to bring the weft to the selvedge, and when the roller 18 reaches the end of the cam 23 the roller 19 enters farther into the recess 10 and straightens the U-spring 7 to retract the bolts 6, thus allowing the shot weft to slip out of the notch at one end of the shuttle and the weft at the other end to slip in, ready to be locked. The weft 25 passes through a hole 27 in one side of the shuttle box diagonally across the box ready to be caught by the notched point of the shuttle.
