Abstract

639,771. Loom-shedding mechanism. PICANOL, J. March 26, 1946, Nos. 9319 and 9320. Convention dates, Dec. 3, 1940, and May 15, 1941. [Class 142 (i)] In tappet mechanism employing conjugate cams to actuate each heald shaft, the cams 6 are arranged on a common shaft 11 and the followers 1, 2 subtend an angle of 60 degrees to 180 degrees. The bosses 4 of the levers 7 form a cylindrical surface which closes the slot in the casing 9 through which the levers protrude, thereby enabling the mechanism to run in an oil bath. The healds can be brought to the same level, under their own weight, by swinging the cams away from the followers, synchronism with the rest of the loom being ensured by a gear on the camshaft 11, which rolls round another gear as the cams are brought into and out of operation.
