Abstract

369,429. Road vehicle hoods and weatherscreens. DEAN, T. E., 50, Avondale Road North, Southport, Lancashire. April 15, 1931, No. 11115. [Classes 103 (ii) and 108 (i).] In vehicle hoods the pillars are detachably connected at their upper ends to the cant rail so that the pillars may be detached from the cant rail and raised to support the side windows when the hood is collapsed. The hood comprises horizontal cant rails 17, 19 hinged together at 18 and to pillars 11, 12 which pillars are also hinged to the body 1. The pillar 12 is detachably hinged to the cant rail so that after the hood is collapsed the pillar 12 may be released and erected in the vertical position to act as a guide for the window 24 the other guide preferably being constituted by slots 38, 39 in the cant rails 17, 19. The connecting pin for the pillar 12 and the cant rails may be a thumbscrew entering registering holes, a slidable pin or a split pin. Distancing buffers or cushions 37 may be provided. The pillars 11, 12 and cant rail 17 are provided with grooves 25 for the window.
