Abstract

383,685. Animalcarrying vehicles. GIBSON & SON., Ltd., J. and RAMSAY, W. W., Jameson Place, Leith, Edinburgh. Sept. 18, 1931, No. 26146. [Class 108 (i).] A hinged loading ramp or gangway for a vehicle with two or more decks is made in sections A, B hinged together at E to fold as shown in broken lines and form a door, and the inner or pivoted end of the gangway can be raised to serve the different decks. As shown, rollers 15 on the gangway engage in vertical guides 16 and the gangway is raised and lowered in a bight of a cable 27 passing from a winch 32 over sheaves 31, 30 on the vehicle, under sheaves 29 at either end of the tubular hinge E, and secured to the top of one of the guides 16. The sections are connected by a rule joint at E which may be held rigid by a pin. The outer section B is provided with folding sides 22, held upright by spring catches at the base of the uprights 23. The sides 22 are telescopic, alternate boards 26 being extended to form sides for the upper section A of the gangway. The V-shaped gap at the top of the gangway may be closed by a member 44 hinged at 45. The gangway may be detached from the guides by tilting sidewise, or by removing stops 36. The folded gangway may be locked in position to close the vehicle by a part entering the bracket 39.
