Dec. 17, 1926 Weather-screens. - In char-a-bancs, omnibuses and other motor road vehicles the body pillars 4, Fig. 1, are slotted longitudinally to permit hood supporting pillars to slide therein, suitable mechanism is provided for raising and lowering the sliding pillars and the body pillars are provided on their inner opposing surfaces with guide-ways for the sliding pillars which have channels in which the side screens are adapted to slide. Fig. 3 shows the sliding pillars 6, 13 guided in the body pillars 4, 14 and provided with racks engaged by pinions 9 operated from a shaft 10 by a handle 12 so that the piliars are raised and lowered simultaneously. The sliding pillars are provided with channels 17 in which the window frames 3 may slide. Fig. 4 shows another form of sliding pillars 19 which may be raised and lowered by a vertical screwed rod 24 and nut operated from a shaft 27 by handle 30. The sliding pillar has guides for the window frames 22 and is locked in its upper or lower position by screw 31 which draws the waist and garnish rails together or by a screw 32 as shown. The tops of the sliding pillars are connected by a bar 15 on which the hoop sticks may slide and be clamped thereto, the bar above the doors being detachable and folded against the wind-screen and rear pillar.
