Abstract

368,717. Discharge apparatus. AMBROSITSCH, E., 30, Alstadt, Linz, Austria. Dec. 8, 1930, No. 36976. [Class 39 (i).] In discharge devices such as incandescent cathode tubes, vacuum or metal vapour apparatus, provision is made for utilizing the Hall effect, the discharge space of the tube constituting the conductor for the primary current and extending through a magnetic field produced by means located either inside or outside the tube, the latter being further provided with electrodes for taking off an output current. Fig. 4 shows an arrangement in which the discharge space between the electrodes 11, 12 is divided by barriers 13 into a plurality of parallel paths extending through a magnetic field N, S, electrodes 14 provided at each side of the discharge paths being connected in series or parallel to an output circuit. In the form shown in Fig. 6, an annular field system T located within the discharge device is employed, the field having a plurality of gaps forming discharge paths between electrodes 17 and a common central electrode 16. Output electrodes 18 are provided in each discharge path.
