Abstract
368,478. Jacking attachments on motor vehicles. ACKERMANN, F., Eschwege, near Cassel, Germany. Feb. 3, 1931, No. 3404. [Class 79 (iii).] A jacking attachment for a motor vehicle comprises a bar 7 with a detachable foot 8 fashioned in the form of a sledge-runner, the bar being adapted to be inserted into a socket member 6 hinged to a block 4 secured to an axle 1 by means such as clips 2, 3. The socket member, one of which is provided adjacent to each wheel, is normally retained in the horizontal position by a spring 5, the bar being retained therein by friction whilst being brought down into engagement with the ground. Ribs 8a on the runner provide a grip enabling the bar to be brought to the vertical position by moving the vehicle. Stability in this position is ensured by engagement of a catch 10 carried by the bar 7 with a projection 11 on the block 4, the catch being slidable in a holder 9 under the control of a lever 13 acting through a rod 12. The catch may be normally drawn down by a compression spring surrounding the rod 12. In order to increase the height of lift, an extension piece may be fitted into a socket 14 in the lower end of the bar.
