Abstract
368,023. Couplings. SHULMAN, H., 50, Philpot Street, London. Feb. 3, 1931, No. 3420. [Class 38 (i).] In an electric lamp holder of the type provided with pointed contact members which pierce the insulation of a cable passing therethrough to establish connection, one of the piercing contacts is mounted movably to enable it to pierce any conductor of a multi-core cable passing through the holder. The rear portion of the holder is provided with a notch r, Fig. 5, to receive the multi-core cable, and the backplate l is provided with apertures h, i respectively to receive the plunger contacts carrying fixed and movable piercing-contacts d, b, Fig. 3, at their rear ends. The piercing- contact b, Fig. 1, is carried at the end of a metal strip a on the end of its plunger casing, and a recess c is provided in the plate l to receive the strip a which, with the contact b, can be swung round with the plunger casing within the hole i as pivot, so that the contact b can be placed beneath any core of the cable. A cap f, Fig. 3, is screwed upon the rear end of the holder to force the piercing-contacts into the cable and retain them in position.
