Abstract
367,740. Safetypins &c. ALTSHULER, I., 116, Holborn, and ROGERS, A. R., 270, Long Lane, East Finchley, both in London. Nov. 2, 1931, No. 30301. [Class 131.] A brooch catch comprises a part 3 extending at rightangles from the C-shaped or hooklike member 1 for accommodating the pin 4, and a catch plate 5 pivoted to and moving in a longitudinal slot 6 in the side of the part 3 so that when closed the plate 5 extends across the member 1 beneath the pin 4, means being provided for retaining it in this position. The edge of the catch plate may be formed with a convexity 5c for snapping across the edge 6a of the slot 6 and the plate itself may be manipulated by a knob 5b which also limits its closing positions. The end 5a of the catch plate may engage with a slot 8 in the other side of the part 3 in the closed position and also engage the inner end of the slot 6 to limit the opening movement. A spring may alternatively be provided for holding the catch plate closed. The part 3 may be of lunette, elongated U, triangular or other shape and serves' as a point protector. It may be closed over at the top and be fixed direct to the brooch and carrv the C- shaped member.
