Spectacle cases.-In eye-glass and like cases comprising two main members, one forming the case and the other the lid, each provided with stiffening members arranged transversely, a construction of stiffener is fitted in each part, adapted to co-operate to provide a spring control for the hinge and additional reinforcement of the case and lid. The two main members 21, 22 are hinged together and the member 21 is formed with an internal flange 23 along one edge, supported by one end of the inserted stiffener 26, which is bent up as shown in fig. 4 and bent upon itself, being retained in position by a tongue 29 pressed out of the stiffener. The other end of the stiffener 26 extends upwards to provide two arms 30 bent round the hinge spindle 24 and also a spring 27, the latter co-operating with a cam surface 34 formed by one lid of the stiffener 36 which is secured to the lid. The other end of the stiffener 36 is bent to form a stop extension 39 which bears on the flange 23 when the case is closed. This extension 39 may be extended to form a catch to secure the lid when closed, or to form a finger-grip. A mirror, photograph, &c. may be secured to the stiffener by continuations of the cam and stop portions. The central portions of the stiffeners may be formed as an internal depression which may extend longitudinally of the case, and the stiffeners may be circular in outline, being housed in similar shaped depressions in the case.
