This invention relates to spectacle cases and the improvements are directed to a novel and unique structure adapted toreeeive the rims and lenses of a pair of spectacles with 5 the bows positioned exteriorly of said case.

Primarily, the object of the invention residesI in the production of a case of the abovementioned character which is compact and adapted to snugly embrace the rims of the lo spectacles in a manner to prevent shifting and subsequent injury to the lenses thereof.

Another object is to provide means Wherebv the case may be closed to hold 'the rims within the case and at the same time securely hold the bows in folded position.

Another object of the invention is to provide a case, formed from a single piece of flexible material adapted to be folded to produce a receptacle to receive the rims of a pair of spectacles and having a flap adapted to be secured over the projecting` and folded bows.

ll'ith these objects in view, together with others which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the novel a5 formation, combination and arrangement of parts, all as will be described more fully hereinafter. illustrated in the drawings and particularl \Y pointed out in the claims.

l`he corners of said front and rear sections are rounded over so that the case formed by the folding as aforesaid, may conform to the general shape ofthe rims of the spectacles while the upper central edge of said front seetion (i, as viewed in Fig. 2, is cut away, as indicated at l() to facilitate the insertion of the rims within said case. If desired, the lower corners of the case may be stitched, as indicated at 11, to hold the sections G and 7 in closer relation.

lith the caseI formed as shown in Fig. 2, it is only necessaiwv to insert the rims of the spectacles 'l2 between the sections G and 7, the extensions i3 of the rims protruding bevond the open edges of the case, while the hinged bows il projecting therefrom are folded against the outer face of the front section (i, as clearly shown in Fig. 3.

ln order to close the case and at the same time to securely hold the bows il in the position indicated, I provide said flap 8, which is i'oldable on the line l5 to assume the position shown in Fig. 3, wherein it will be observed. the medial portions of said bows M are firmly held in position against the face of said section 6. The means for securing said flap 8 to said section G, comprising a form of snap-fastener which includes a socket 1G, carried by the flap 8, and a button 17 secured to said front section G. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3 the side edges of the section G may be cut away, as indicated at i8, adjacent the hinged connection of the protruding extensions 13 and the bows 14.

The case may be madefrom thin flexible material, such as leather, or the like, and after the rims are ililaced'therein and the bows folded and secured by the flap as aforesaid, shifting or other displacement of the rims is precluded. ln View of the provision of the flap 8 and the snap-fastening securing means, the case is maintained in closed condition and at the same time the hinged bows are held in close intimate relation with the front section of the case. The position of the snap-fastener between the rims, as shown in Fig. 3, positively precludes breakage of the lenses when the case is opened or closed by manipulating said fastener.

lVhile the present is a disclosure ofthe preferred embodiment of the invention, it is t0 be understood that the same is not limited thereto, as various changes in the minor de tails of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of the invention as detined in the appended Claims.

l claim:

A spectacle case comprising a front and rear section adapted to be assembled to form a ease presenting open sides to permit the insertion ot tbe rims of a pair ot spectacles between said front and rear sections with the 10 bows projecting from the open sides, said bows being folded over said front section, a flap adapted to overlie tbe medial portions of said bows and means -ior attaching said flap to said front section to secure the bows 15 in position.
