Be it known thatl, THOMAS RALPH AT- HINs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lynn, in thecounty of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented vnew and useful Improvements'in Holders -for Licenses, Etc., of which the' following -is a specification.

The invention` relates chiefiy to a holder for the license carried by the driver of a motor vehicle, and its chief Objectis to enable such license to be securely confined on the body of the user in compact form, and read-` ily accessible'for-exhibition to a traffic oilicer.

I attain this and other related objects by the improved holder construction hereinafter vdescribed and claimed.

Of the accompanying drawingsforming a part of this specication Figure 1 is a side view of thefolder constituting an element of the holder, the folder being unfolded for exhibition.`

Figure 2 is a perspective view, showing the folder folded for insertion in the pouch constituting another element of the holder.

folded and inserted in the pouch is retained thereln by the inter-engagement of said fastener members, the flap constituting a handlewhereby the holder may be inserted in and removed from the pouch when folded and held by the user when unfolded, so that an automobile license secured as hereinafter described to the folder and foldable therewith, may be conveniently held by the owner in position to be exhibited to a traffic officer. f

The preferred construction of the pouch is that shown by4 gures 3, 4, '5 and 6, the .pouch including two duplicate body parts or sections v12 and 13 preferably of flexible leather and connected atfopposite ends by rows 14 of stitches. The body part 12 constitutes the inner side ofthe pouch and is extended to form a flap portion 12a projecting in one direction from the storage space between the body parts. The body part 13 constitutes the outer side of the pouch and is extended to form a flap portion 13a projecting in the opposite direction` from the storage space. The flap portion 12a is provided with Ysocket fastener members 15, and the flap 13a is provided with stud fastener members 16 to engage the members 15, so that when the flap portions are-folded across the body portion 12 as shown by Figure 6, they are coupled together and collectively constitute a support-engaging member adapted to bear on one side of a supporting stra 17 shown by dotted lines in Figure ,6. aid strap may be an apparel belt worn on the waist of the user, or 1t Lmay be a portion of the Suspenders of the user, or

strong and flexible material, such as leather adapted to be folded on the intersecting lines 20 kand 21 (Figure 1). When the folder 19 is folded, it assumes substantially the form and is adapted to be inserted in the pouch, the folder when 'unfolded, having an area considerably greater than that of the-storage space of the pouch.
