Abstract
367,254. Reinforced concrete. WALLER, J. H. DE W., 115, Grafton Street, Dublin. May 13, 1931, No. 14128. Convention date, Nov. 4, 1930. [Class 20 (iv).] A netted reinforcement for concrete, cement, or plaster is provided at the crossing points with projecting wire loops or knots which ensure the desired thickness of concrete covering or space the fabric from a foundation. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the projecting loop 3 forms part of a wire which is doubled over the crossing point, the ends 4, 5 being bent up around the strands 1, 2, and brought under a tightening bar placed loosely in the loop. The tightening bar is twisted round to form a knot 6 and is finally removed. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 5 and 6, two doubled wires are used which are twisted at the base of the loops 8 and the loose ends are inserted in holes in a plate adapted to be rotated mechanically so that the ends are twisted underneath the strands, as shown in Fig. 6. The plate is then removed. In a further arrangement shown in Fig. 4, two wires are doubled over the strands 1, 2, and the loose ends are twisted to form the knot 7.
