Abstract

612,776. Ground anchors. DONKIN, T. June 3, 1946, No. 16804. [Class 45] A ground anchor for guy ropes and the like comprises a mat of flexible material secured to the ground at a number of spaced points. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, one end of a sheet 1 of wire mesh is folded over a steel tube 4 and wired to the body of the sheet at 9. To the tube 4 clips 5 carrying shackle pins 6 for the guy ropes are fitted. The mesh is secured to the ground by spikes 2, each having an enlarged head 7, Fig. 3, and a transverse hole 8 to facilitate withdrawal. The spikes 2 are inserted through Z-clips 3 having flanges 3a, 3b engaging over and under adjacent cross-wires of the mesh. In a modification, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), both ends of the mesh are spiked to the ground.
