Abstract

367,194. Centrifugal machines. SAINTJACQUES, E. C., 35, Rue LinnÚ, Paris. March 3, 1931, No. 6603. Convention date, March 5, 1930. [Class 23.] A centrifugal separating apparatus has a cylindrical lower part 1, a conical upper part 2, and a tangential inlet 6 for material at or near the junction of the two parts. A fan 8 is arranged to create an upward flow through the apparatus. A tapering part 3 is arranged below the cylindrical part 1 and terminates in a trough 4 of rectangular section containing a conveyer 5. The mixture to be treated is fed in through the inlet 6 and the pipe, which is adjustable, may be horizontal or inclined. The mixture whirls in the separator and the heavier particles are thrown out and fall to the conveyer 5 ; the lighter particles are carried upwards and pass through the fan 8 to the chamber 10 where they are collected in the bag 11 of filtering material. The cylinder 1 has holes 12 which can be more or less covered by a ring 13 with corresponding holes 14 so that the quantity of entering air can be regulated to ensure good suspension of the lighter elements. It may also be arranged for air to enter in the tapering part 3.
