Abstract
In the process according to the parent Specification, in which hydrogen and carbon dioxide are produced in the removal of carbon monoxide from town gas by passing the latter together with steam over calcined dolomite at high temperatures, the process is so operated that during the whole or portion thereof the temperature is such that there is a definite predetermined vapour pressure of carbon dioxide above the absorbing material. The process may be carried out in two stages, in the first of which carbon dioxide is completely absorbed and in the second, incompletely absorbed, the gases from each stage being mixed in the desired proportions.
