Abstract

364,420. Thermal switches. HADDAN, R., 31, Bedford Street, Strand, London.- (Moffats, Ltd. ; Dennison Avenue, Weston, Ontario, Canada.) March 7, 1931, No. 7185. [Class 38 (v).] A thermal switch for controlling temperature comprises a bimetallic coil 18 which rotates a spindle 12 till a projection 20 on the spindle engages a lug 19 on an armature 11 pivoted on the spindle, whereupon the armature is rotated away from a horseshoe permanent magnet 2 and a contact 10 carried by the armature is moved out of engagement with a fixed contact 9. The amount of lost motion between the spindle and the armature may be regulated by rotating a tube 17, to which one end of the coil 18 is fixed, in its clamp 21.
