Abstract
363,994. Sifting-apparatus. SHARP, A., 64, Hospital Street, Nantwich, and ASHTON, H. A., Rose Cottage, Canal Side, Black Road, Macclesfield, both in Cheshire. Sept. 18, 1930, No. 27856. [Class 117.] Apparatus for screening stone, gravel, &c., consists of a frame 9, 10, Fig. 1, oscillating about a substantially horizontal axis, and carrying two concave screens of perforated metal, wire mesh, &c., the upper screen 32 functioning to divide the charge into two portions, the smaller sizes falling on to a lower series of graded screens 35, and the tailings being conveyed by the dead-plates 33 and shoot 43 to a further set of grading screens 44 in line with the screens 35. Alternatively the screens 44 may be made as a continuation of the dead-plates 33. The frame has stub shafts 14, 22 mounted in bearings in uprights 5, 6, and may be further supported by arcuate runners 39 working on rollers 40a. The driving means consists of an arm 15, having a slot in which is adjustably secured the end of a link 17 of variable length connecting it to a crank shaft 18. To prevent over-running of the frame at the ends of its swing, a collar 31 carried by the shaft 22 has surface ribs which are pressed by a spring into engagement with recesses in the surface of the bearing member.
