Abstract
463,082. Sifting-apparatus. MASON, R. T. G. Oct. 9, 1935, Nos. 27865/35 and 27208/36. [Class 117] A reciprocating screen is supported for sliding movement between two sets of rollers, the lower set engaging with cams on the screen frame to impart a jarring movement thereto and the upper set of rollers being resiliently mounted. The screen 20, Fig. 1, is maintained taut by drawbolts in a frame 5 which is reciprocated on supporting rollers 3 by a crank and connecting rod 9. A slipper plate 6 with cams 7 is carried on the frame 5 and coacts with rollers 8 mounted in vertically adjustable bearings to produce regulatable vibrations of the screen during its reciprocatory movements. Spring - pressed rollers 18 bear on the upper side of the frame 5 and dampen the vibratory movements. Protuberances 36 on the upper side of the screen frame vibrate the feed hopper. An alternative feeding device is shown in Fig. 7, in which the hopper 32 is stationary and has a distributing plate 50 rocked about a pivot 51 by a crank and connecting rod 52. The material falls on to an inclined plate 55 which is rocked about its upper edge by the engagement of the protuberances 36 with rollers 56. Rakes 25 are carried above the screen to spread the material and brushes or scrapers may be provided on transverse bars sliding in vertical guides 42 and normally raised above the screen but lowered into contact therewith for clearing the meshes. The base frame 1 may be pivotally supported at the feed end and supported at the other end by adjustable feet or jacking means to allow the structure to be set at any required angle of inclination.
