Feeding articles in predetermined attitude by lifting from loose assemblage in bin. -The apparatus described in the parent Specification is modified by reciprocating the wavy guides 32 at one end instead of at an intermediate point, or alternatively, reciprocating the conveyer 46 transversely to the line of travel of the goods, or moving it bodily in a circular path in a horizontal plane and reciprocating the guides 32 in the line of travel of the goods. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the guides 32 are held at one end in the stationary cross member 34 and at the other end in the cross member 36 which is reciprocated as described in the parent Specification by a bell crank 48, 49. In the alternative form shown in Fig. 2, the table 4 carrying the conveyer 46 is secured at one end to a bracket 102 which is pivoted on a bracket 103 on the machine base 3, At the other end of the table, a frame 106 is secured which is pivoted at 108 to a lower frame 107 which slides on the shaft 54 and embraces the sides of the band pulley 25. Downwardly projecting arms on the frame 107 are joined by a cross bar 109 to which a crank operated connecting rod 114 is pivoted. The crank has an adjustable throw and is driven through bevels from a friction disc 68 so that the conveyer 46 is oscillated about the pivot 105. The roller 31 may be resiliently mounted to keep the belt stretched evenly during the movements of the frame. The guides 32 rest at one end on a plate 117, and, adjacent to the other end, are connected to a cross bar 35 which slides on plates 119 secured to the table 4 and has projecting end pins 120 engaging with rocking levers 121. One of the levers 121 is formed as a bell crank, one arm of which is slotted to adjustably receive a rod 123 connected to a crank pin on the friction disc 68. The guides 32 are thus reciprocated longitudinally and are guided by the cross bar 34 engaging upturned ends 118 of the plate 117, which is positioned over the end of the coating conveyer 1 and is level with the conveyer 46. The drive of the feeding conveyer 8 and brush 18 is effected as in the parent Specification. The slide 87 interposed between the conveyer 8 and the guides 32 is shaped as shown in Fig. 5, ridges c of roof like section and increasing in height and slope towards the lower end forming troughs b of increasing depth leading to the guides 32. Pins d are fixed in staggered relationship on the upper portions of the ridges c and direct work pieces into the troughs b as shown at a, a<1>, all. The lower ends of the ridges are sufficiently wide to include the whole scope of the reciprocation of the guides 32. Alternatively to the pins d, alternate ridges c may be made short with their upper ends projecting above the slide.
