Abstract
363,792. Frames &c. for supporting viands while cooking. NEWMAN, G., 23, Slaney Street, Birmingham. Nov. 19, 1930, No. 34774. [Class 28 (i).] In a cooking grid having the usual supporting legs 3 the main supporting surface is formed from a single length of wire, or from a number of separate lengths of wire, bent up to provide a series of bars 1 of a zig-zag, convoluted or other shape having laterally projecting portions, the bars being disposed side by side in the same plane and, for the whole distance between the end members of the grid, being unconnected. As shown in Fig. 1, the bars may be bent to a zig-zag form with the corners 4 of adjacent bars arranged near together to impart a reticulated or mesh-like appearance to the grid. The bars 1 may be carried by an outer frame comprising end members 2 and side members 5, the bars 5 being bent up to form the legs 3. The end members 2 may be made of sheet metal having the opposite edges folded and provided with gaps 7 to receive the bars 1, the connecting parts 6 of the bars being engaged, by the overlapping ears or tongues between the gaps 7. According to the Provisional Specification a single length of wire may be employed to form all the bars and also the frame.
