840,329. Spring clips; stud-and-socket fasteners. F. T. PRODUCTS Ltd. Feb. 13, 1958 [Feb. 19, 1957], No. 5614/57. Class 44. A metallic can 19 for shielding radio apparatus is fastened to a panel 20 by means of two or more fasteners 10 each formed from a single strip of metal into a U-portion with a web 11 and flanges 12, 15, the flange 12 having two prongs 13, 14 directed towards the web 11 and the flange 15 having sheared and bent therefrom a lug 17 formed with an elbow 18. The fasteners are mounted over the lower edge of the can wall with the prongs biting into the wall, and the elbows 18 are snapped past the edges of slots 21, 22 in the panel 20 and may be then soldered to the panel. The fasteners are preferably made from hard rolled phosphor bronze rendered spring hard after shaping. The slots may be other than rectangular in shape and may be replaced by a single aperture. In a modification internally directed deformations are substituted for the prongs 13, 14.
