[Class 123(iii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a filter for air or other gases comprising a series of spaced superposed metal plates coated with a viscous liquid and formed with deep V-shaped undulations assembled in a frame to provide a sinuous path for the dust-laden gas as described in Specification 222,385, [Class 123(iii)], the plates 10, Fig. 1, are spaced by transversely disposed metal strips 13 themselves formed with V-shaped undulations of such depth that in assembly the re-entrant side of a ridge 15a of a strip undulation bears against the salient side of a ridge 12a of a plate undulation beneath. The ends 17 of each strip are bent upwardly and inwardly to contact the adjacent strip. Inwardly directed tongues 16 punched up from the strip act as stops for the plate margins 11 and serve to resist flattening. The plates 10 which may be discarded when dirty, are of stout oil-coated folded paper. In a modification, Fig. 4, the plate margins extend outwardly and upwardly to terminate in free edges 19 at the back of the upper edges of the strip ends 17. Triangular tongues 21 punched upwardly from the end portions 14 of each strip are outwardly directed to support the margins of the plates 18.
