Abstract

363,282. Removing wheels f r o m shafts. KULP, H. W. and DELLINGER, M. C., 510, North Plum Street, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. May 27, 1931, No. 15516. Convention date, May 29, 1930. [Class 61 (iii).] A wheel hub &c. drawer comprises a number of blade members 6 formed at the front ends with projections 8 adapted to engage behind a rim D on the hub B and at the rear ends with rounded portions 9 retained in pivotal engagement with recesses in the body member 1 which carries the pressure screw 5 by means of a collar 2 and bolts 3 ; the blade members are held in spaced relation by radial slots in a disc 4 fixed to the body member 1 and are moved inwards for rough adjustment to the size of the hub by a ring 7 with radial slots in its inner periphery coacting with steps 11, 11a, 14 on the backs of the blades, which latter are then gripped tightly on the hub by a ring 7a rotatably mounted on ring 7 by means of bolts 7b and slots 7c and formed with cam edges 7d engaging the blade edges. Stops 12, 16 on the blades prevent detachment of the rings. A protector block F is interposed between the threaded extremity E of the taper shaft A and the end of the pressure screw 5.
